IceSpy: A novel that is CHILLING TO THE BONE

Book Cover

IceSpy:

A novel that is CHILLING TO THE BONE

Fiction often mirrors truth. And you get just as close as you want to be to non-fiction in this fast-paced novel that turned the turmoil surrounding the U.S. Bobsled Federation into shocking international intrigue. The pace is faster than a sled on ice and it races from Lake Placid, New York to the burrow of the CIA at Langley, Virginia to rebelling Latvia and its ancient rift with the Soviet Union during the final days of the Cold War. It's scary enough to set even a seasoned CIA agent's hair on end. Cold War history was made in Riga, Latvia when the Soviet Minister of Sports made an astonishing statement at a press conference he and Miller held to announce that the Soviet Bobsled Team would visit Lake Placid to take part in the 10th anniversary of the 1980 Olympic Games. When asked: Who invited the Americans to the Soviet Union, the Minister of Sports responded: I did not invite the Americans. The Latvian Socialist State debated for three months about how to handle the invitation and they made the decision to invite the Americans without first seeking permission from Moscow. It is believed that this was the first public statement made by a Soviet Official that Latvia would no longer be under Moscow's rule! The Minister of Sports was later executed for crimes against the Soviet government. A novel that is difficult to put down once you begin to read!

Endnotes to Plato: An Essay on Eco-Monism

Book Cover

Endnotes to Plato: An Essay on Eco-Monism

For a long time, philosophy has been characterized as a series of footnotes to Plato. Endnotes to Plato reimagines this legacy, offering a bold and timely exploration of eco-monism — an emerging paradigm in environmental humanities that unifies nature and culture into one ontological whole.

Through eight polyphonic “endnotes,” the book weaves together analytic philosophy, science studies, critical theory, and literary criticism to challenge the binarist divide between nature and culture, a legacy traceable to Plato and his disciples. It argues that this divide has shaped environmental discourse in limiting, even anti-ecological ways. In its place, Endnotes to Plato defends a version of neutral eco-monism inspired by Bruno Latour’s theory of modernity, while addressing ethical concerns about incommensurability by articulating it in the vocabulary of relations.

Provocative and deeply interdisciplinary,
Endnotes to Plato contends that delineating the foundations of eco-monism is imperative for envisioning environmental justice, and recognizing Plato’s ecological legacy is indispensable to this delineation. Above all, it invites us to rethink the philosophical frameworks that have shaped our world — and to envisage new ones for the warming globe ahead.

“If research and writing in the humanities is, as I believe, ultimately about making meaning — and opening the possibility of meaningful change — within a messy and uncertain world, then I count myself lucky to have seen such a thing come to fruition over the course of our research collaboration [on
Endnotes to Plato].” — R Baker, PhD Student in English, UCSB

“Kevin’s work is remarkable. I haven’t taught graduate students, but I expect his work is the sort for which one would hope for one’s graduate students. … His is among the most impressive work I’ve had from a student in my over-twenty years as a professor. Kevin is a special student and his research was nothing short of superb.” — David Dudrick, George Carleton Jr. Professor of Philosophy, Colgate University

5.0 out of 5 stars If I could have given it 10 stars I would! - Amazon Review

As someone who has bought and read the entire series, this is one of the best sci-fi romance series I've ever read. I couldn't put it down! It's a great sci-fi adventure with steamy romance, great characters, humor, drama, action...everything I want in a story. It kept my intention the entire way through. The characters are relatable, so much so that I felt like I was right there going through everything with them. The first volume is just the tip of the iceberg. You may think you know where this is going but you don't. Trust me on this. There's so much more to this story than what's on the surface! The story gets better, deeper and more involved with every volume. Just when you think you've got a handle on things, something happens to blow your mind. I'm taking the time to read it again, I love it so much. I highly recommend this series for anyone that enjoys a good science fiction romance adventure. If that's your thing, you won't be disappointed with this series!
