Ever since the Harvey Weinstein story broke, the headlines have been filled with cases of sexual assault by men in power who take advantage of ambitious and innocent women. But it is not only women who suffer. To emphasize the point that anyone can be hurt by sexual abuse in the workplace, THE DEVIANT turns this story around. Instead of the abuser being a man, it is a woman, and she victimizes young men who work for her. The male victims in the book are no less traumatized than the real-life female victims of powerful men. But how can these men get anyone to believe they’ve been abused? They can’t. Instead, they band together and form a plan that will bring about the justice they crave - but only if it works.
